Traveling in Tibet, you need not only China Visa but also Tibet permit. There are 3 kinds of permits, Tibet Entry Permit(TTB permit), Tibet Travel Permit(PSB permit) and Military Permit.

Tibet Entry Permit

It is also called TTB permit, issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau.You need it to help you enter Tibet. If you are going to take plane to Tibet, you need it to issue the air tickets, if you travel overland, you have to show the TTB permit to help you pass the check-in. there is a sample of TTB permit as below,

( Please note that there are two pages for your TTB permit, you can not enter Tibet without any page of them, please double check your TTB permti before you take the flight.)

Alien's Travel Permit

It is also called PSB Permit, it is issued by People's Security Bureau. You need it when you travel out of Lhasa area, such as Tsedang, Gyantse, Nyingchi¡­ there is a sample of PSB permit as follow:

Military Permit

It is issued by military affairs office. You need it to pass the chek-in when you travel to un-open area such as Mt.Kailash area.

Information needed for permits

At the time you book the tour with us, please send us following information of each member of your party.

• Full name
• Passport number
• Nationality
• Gender
• Birth date
• Occupation

We need above information to arrange your permit, normally we need 2 or 3 days to arrange your Tibet Entry permits well and one more day to send it to your last stop before you enter Tibet. in peak season, especially,August, September, it costs you more days.

We can only arrange your Tibet Travel Permit (Aliens' Travel Pemit) after you arrive in Lhasa, because we need your original passport and China visa to arrange it. Please hand your original passport and visa to your guide upon your arrival.

Remark: If you travel Tibet from Kathmandu, you'd better get China visa from Kathmandu because no matter you've already had the China visa in your country or not, you must get a visa in Kathmandu, which is regulated in an official memo between China and Nepal.
