8.Can I travel in Tibet independently?

According to the regulation of Tibetan government, independent tour is prohibited in Tibet. You have to join an organized group or have the local travel agency to arrange for you separately. You have to hire at least a guide.

According to the updated policy of Tibet Tourism Bureau, every foreign group has to hire travel guide, even you just travel in Lhasa, otherwise, you can not enter some of the sights, such as Potala palace, Jokham Temple, and if the group without tour guide was found by Tibet Tourism Bureau, The organizer of this group will be punished, so does the travel agency.---updated on Wednesday, July 12th, 2007

9.Is the sunshine strong? What should I bring for the plateau weather?

Yes, the sunshine here is very strong, and you may be easily hurt by the ultraviolet radiation. In this case, you'd better take some cream for protecting your face, the sunglasses, sunhat and lipstick are also necessary.

The temperature here has big difference between daytime and night, please prepare the warm clothes except the season of Summer(July-September).

10.What kind of food we can be offered in Tibet?

As the development of Tibet's economy and tourism, there are various kinds of restaurants in Tibet, especially in the cities.

You can easily find Traditional Tibetan food, Chinese food, Indian food, Nepalese food and western food.

If you like, you can enjoy a Tibetan flavor with singing and dancing by Tibetans.You will enjoy not only the food but also the Tibetan arts and culture.

11.What are the popular places other tourists prefer to visit?

Most people would like to visit Lhasa, Shigatse, Tsedang area. the main attractions of Tibet is as follows:

  • Lhasa area: Potala palace, Jokhang Temple, Sera monastery, Norbulingka, Drepung monastery, Tibet Museum, Ganden monastery ,Namtso Lake, etc.
  • Shigatse area: Yumdrok Lake,Tashilumpo monastery, Shalu monastery, Palkhor monastery with Kumbu pagoda, Sagya monastery, Mt. Everest.etc.
  • Tsedang area: Yurlung Tseangpo River, Samye monastery, Trundruk monastery, Yumbulakhang, etc.
  • For adventure, Mt. Everest and Mt. Kailash in Ngari are the most attractive places
